What does this meme mean?

Contrast a lively shared setting with one highly specific private thought. The secret can be impressive, trivial or wonderfully irrelevant to the surrounding conversation.

Where it comes from

The party-corner image belongs to the older I Wish I Was at Home format, documented from 2009. The They Don't Know I'm variation spread in November 2020 with captions about hidden personal accomplishments.

Make your own version

  1. Choose a group setting and a secret accomplishment unrelated to the conversation.
  2. Place your character at the edge of the scene and attach the thought only to that character.
  3. Keep the crowd context visible and shorten the thought until it can be read in a single pause.
